All clothing is supplied by Perry Uniform and can be purchased directly from them by using the following link:

Early Years Foundation Stage

The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) is the statutory curriculum for all settings where children aged 5 years or under attend. It consists of seven different areas of learning. At Young England Kindergarten we aim to deliver this to all children by offering a wide variety of activities and group sessions.

The Four Principles Which Form The Basis of EYFS:

The Seven Areas of Learning

The three prime areas:

Wellbeing

Building positive relationships with peers and adults through play while developing confidence, empathy, and the ability to manage feelings and behaviour.

Communication and Language

Developing listening, understanding, and speaking skills through conversations, stories, and activities with peers and adults.

Physical Development

Encouraging movement and coordination through play and equipment while supporting healthy habits and independent self-care skills.

The four specific areas:

Mathematics

Developing number skills through counting, recognising and comparing numbers, while exploring shapes, patterns, measurement, and simple problem-solving.

Literacy

Building early reading and writing skills through stories, rhymes, letter sounds, mark-making, and learning to recognise and write their name.

Understanding the world

Exploring people, communities, nature, and technology while learning about different cultures and developing curiosity through discovery and problem-solving.

Expressive arts & design

Encouraging creativity through music, art, dance, role-play, and building with different materials while exploring colours, textures, and imagination.

FAQ's

Please contact us to arrange a convenient time for a meeting and tour with our Principal admissions@youngenglandkindergarten.co.uk or using our booking page https://yek.mobilunity.net/bayswater-book-a-tour/

Children are welcome to join you on your visit. Meet our Principal for a tour of the setting and get an overview of what makes Young England Kindergarten special. Visits take approximately 30-45 minutes and there will be an opportunity to ask any questions you may have about our curriculum, teaching methods, enrolment process, and more.

Children can be registered from birth. This will ensure a place on our waiting list.

We are a term time nursery school, operating from 8.30/45 am until 3.30 pm.

Yes, all staff undergo an enhanced DBS check every term. This is a criminal record check.
Yes, all staff have paediatric first aid training.

We maintain small group sizes with 1 teacher to 4 children in our Caterpillar Session (2-3 years) and 1 teacher to 8 children in our Butterfly Session (3-4 years). Group teachers are supported throughout the day by teaching assistants, as well as peripatetic teachers.

We have a strict nut and tahini free policy. Healthy sugar free snacks are provided at certain times in the day. Hot and nutritional lunches are freshly prepared by our supplier, V&Me, who cater for all food allergies.

The first step is to visit us and then register your child if you wish to have a place on our waiting list. This involves completion of a registration form and non-refundable fee of £125.

You will be offered a place 1 year before your child’s start date. A deposit of £2,000 is required upon acceptance of your place – this is deducted from your final term’s fee.

You will also be asked to complete a childcare agreement and child’s personal record which finalises the admissions process. A home visit will be scheduled before your child starts at YEK so they are familiar with their Group Teacher as part of our settling in process.

Nursery schools typically operate during term time only with 3 terms per academic year. Children usually start at 2 years old and leave before they turn 5 years old to attend ‘Reception’ year at prep/primary school. Staff are highly qualified with a Level 3 qualification as minimum, but often with an Early Years/Qualified Teacher status or similar.

Opening times are usually from 8.30 am until 3.30 pm. The school day is highly structured with a mix of free play, learning activities, and a wide range of extra-curricular activities (e.g. languages, sports, drama) and school trips to the theatre, zoo and museums for the children to enjoy. There is an emphasis on learning and helping children become ‘school ready’ using a bespoke, EYFS based curriculum.

Day nurseries are typically open 52 weeks a year and operate from 7.30 am – 6.30 pm. Children can start from 6 – 12 months old and leave before they turn 5 years old to attend ‘Reception’ year. These settings will follow the EYFS and address the 7 areas of learning with a less structured day and fewer, if any, extra-curricular offerings. Staff will have attained a minimum of level 3 qualification and work in shift patterns throughout the day.

Please see HERE for a list for schools.

The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) is the statutory curriculum for all settings where children aged 5 years or under attend. It consists of seven different areas of learning:

3 Prime areas

  • (Communication & Language
  • Physical Development
  • Personal, Social & Emotional Development)

4 Specific areas

  • Literacy
  • Mathematics Understanding the World
  • Expressive Arts & Design

All interconnected to build essential skills for school and life through play-based learning.

At Young England Kindergarten we aim to deliver this to all children by offering a wide variety of curricular activities and group sessions. Please see HERE for more information about the area of learning.

We use specialised educational software provided by Arc Pathway to track children’s progress throughout the term using photographed and videoed observations that are linked to the EYFS areas of learning. Parents are sent regular updates and encouraged to contribute to their child’s learning journal.
We will always try to cater for any learning and disability needs. We have a dedicated Special Educational Needs Coordinator who is experienced in assessing support needs and government grant applications.

YEK has excellent relationships with many of London’s top prep/primary schools. We are highly experienced in helping parents choose the next school for the child and helping children prepare for 4+ assessments.

This is not an issue. Our experienced team will help children become potty trained.

Please refer to our policy HERE.

We encourage parents to raise any concerns with their Group Teacher as soon as possible. Our Principal and Head Teacher are also available to discuss any concerns/comments/queries at any point. Your child’s wellbeing is our utmost priority.

Children can be dropped off at 8.30 am at our Bayswater nursery and 8.45 am at our Pimlico nursery.

There is no penalty, although we ask that parents/carers make all efforts to collect children on time.

We work with a number of trusted peripatetic activity providers to include in our curriculum. These activities are included as part of the main termly fee and can include: Music with Pippa’s Poppets, Drama with Over The Top Kids, Sports with Little Kickers and TARKA, Gymnastics with Happy Place Club, and Nature workshops with Studio Cultivate.

School trips take place each term to places of interest such as The Chelsea Physic Garden; Vauxhall City Farm; The Transport Museum; The Unicorn Theatre; Lyric Theatre to name but a few.

Children have daily access to our own private gardens, as well as nearby St. George’s Square for YEK Pimlico and Hyde Park for YEK Bayswater. We promote and encourage outdoor learning and play, whatever the weather!

Please see HERE for YEK Pimlico fees.

School fees are due on or before the first day of term.

We offer the following Government Funding Schemes:

  • Universal Entitlement Funding for 3 & 4 year olds (15 hrs per week). Funding is available to all parents from the term after their child’s 3rd birthday.
  • Extended 30 hr Funding for 3 & 4 year olds (30 hours per week). Available to families the term after a child turns 3 years old. Subject to eligibility criteria.
  • Working Family Entitlement Funding for 2 year olds (30 hrs per week). Available to families the term after a child turns 2 years old. Subject to eligibility criteria.
  • Busy 2s Funding (15 hrs per week). Available to families the term after a child turns 2 years old. This scheme is subject to eligibility criteria.
  • Please see HERE for more information about funding and to see our funding policy.

We accept childcare voucher payments and are signed up with a number of providers, including the Government’s Tax Free Childcare Scheme. This is subject to eligibility criteria. For every £8 you pay into this account, the government will pay in £2. You can get up to £500 every 3 months (up to £2,000 a year) for each of your children. This goes up to £1,000 every 3 months if a child is disabled (up to £4,000 a year).

We also participate in Enjoy Benefit’s Workplace Nursery Scheme. The Workplace nursery benefit saves parents who use a nursery setting, tax and national insurance on all of their nursery fees from birth up to school age. The amount they can save is uncapped, unlike tax-free childcare. As an example: if a parent at pays £1700 a month in fees, they can save up to £2000 maximum a year (per child) with TFC. By using the Workplace Nursery Benefit they would save up to £7089.
