Young England Kindergarten, Bayswater, is registered with Ofsted on the Early Years Register and the compulsory part of the Childcare Register (Registration No. 2814224).
We are incredibly proud that Young England Kindergarten, Bayswater, was judged ‘Strong’ in every area in our Ofsted inspection on 29 June 2026.
Ofsted recognised the strength of our provision across achievement; behaviour, attitudes and routines; children’s welfare and wellbeing; curriculum and teaching; inclusion; and leadership and governance. Inspectors highlighted our “calm, purposeful” and “warm and highly-inclusive” environment, where children feel emotionally secure, happy and valued. They praised the consistently high quality of interactions between staff and children, our ambitious curriculum and the strong, nurturing relationships that give children a genuine sense of belonging.
To be recognised as ‘Strong’ across every area is a wonderful reflection of the dedication of our whole Bayswater team, and we are immensely proud of the nurturing, ambitious and joyful environment they create for our children every day.

Meet Our Team
Mrs Avneet Sandhu (Head Teacher)
Miss Avneet is a Montessori-qualified nursery teacher. She holds a degree in Early Years Education and an Early Years Professional Status (EYPS) which were attained at Kingston University. Miss Avneet was previously the Deputy Head Teacher at YEK Pimlico from 2012 until 2018 assisting Miss Lucinda. Miss Avneet took a break from teaching to explore home schooling during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Mrs Lucinda Byron Evans (Principal)
Miss Lucinda joined the Young England Kindergarten (Pimlico) team in 2009 and became Head Teacher in 2011. Miss Lucinda holds a degree in Early Childhood Studies and a PGCE in Primary Education specializing in Early Years. She obtained her QTS in 2008. Miss Lucinda’s role is to oversee the running of both YEK (Pimlico) and YEK (Bayswater) with a particular focus on admissions, recruitment, advising parents on the choice of school for their child after YEK, and ensuring that our policies and procedures, and EYFS-based curriculum are being delivered effectively by the teaching staff. Miss Lucinda has overseen two consecutive OFSTED inspections, both rated ‘Outstanding’.
Miss Rachel Hamilton (Group Teacher)
Miss Rachel joined YEK in January 2025. She graduated from Edinburgh Napier University with a BA degree in Festival and Event Management. Miss Rachel was previously employed in a private nursery school and is currently studying for her NCFE CACHE Level 3 Award in Childcare and Education.
Miss Sarah Poulis (Deputy Head Teacher)
Miss Sarah joined YEK Bayswater in September 2026 as Deputy Head Teacher. Miss Sarah previously worked at Wetherby Pembridge Minors from 2023 – 2026, where she led EYFS curriculum planning and delivery, supporting and managing a team of staff. Prior to that, Sarah spent five years as Nursery Teacher and Curriculum Lead at Chepstow House School, following roles as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant at Bevington Primary School, English and Nursery Teacher at The English Playgroup in Kuwait, and Deputy Manager at The Hill Nursery. Sarah’s has a Foundation Degree in Early Years, a BA top-up in Education and Leadership, and Early Years Initial Teacher Training/PGCE-related study at Kingston University. She also holds a Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training, a Level 4 Early Years Practice Certificate, CACHE Level 2 in Childcare and Education, and a BTEC National Diploma Level 3 in Early Years.
Mr Henry King (School Business Manager)
Mr Henry joined the Young England Kindergarten (Pimlico) team in 2013. Mr Henry has been involved in two OFSTED inspections, both rated ‘Outstanding’. He has in-depth operational knowledge of managing nursery schools and upholding the highest standards. He is responsible for recruitment, admissions, marketing, funding applications and accounts.
Mrs Kay King BEM (Proprietor)
Miss Kay has worked in the Early Year sector for over 50 years. She joined Young England Kindergarten (Pimlico) in 1973 and has helped generations of children flourish throughout her time here. Miss Kay was awarded a British Empire Medal (‘BEM’) in The King’s Birthday Honours List 2023 for services to Early Years. Miss Kay remains instrumental in helping Young England remain the special place that it is.
